On 10 December, Government of National Accord (GNA) Prime Minister Fayez al-Serraj flew to Cairo to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who reiterated that the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA) remains the cornerstone of the political solution in Libya.. Serraj’s visit coincided with the fourth round of talks between Libyan military officers in Cairo where Libyan National Army (LNA) spokesman Ahmed Mismari announced that the Libyan army unification remains on track.
On 4 December, Serraj and US Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin met in Washington. In a statement from the US Treasury Department following the meeting, both men “underscored the importance of continued cooperation in countering the financing of terrorism”.
