On 24 June, Egypt’s Prosecutor-General, Nail Sadek, called for a ‘red notice’ (i.e. an international wanted persons alert) to be issued by Interpol for the arrest of three alleged Libyan members of ISIS accused of working with an Egyptian, Mohamed Ragab Hassan, to gather information, kidnap Egyptians in Libya and extracting a ransom. The alleged ISIS members have been named as Emad Eddin Ahmed Abdel Salam al-Warfali, Ayyad Ahmed Abdel Salam al-Warfali, and Moftah Ahmed Abdel Salam al-Warfali.

On 27 June, Libyan national Ahmed Abu Khatallah was sentenced to 22 years in a US federal prison for his role in the 11 September 2012 terrorist attack on the US Special Mission in Benghazi that caused the death of US Ambassador Christopher Stevens (the first U.S ambassador to die in the line of duty for almost 40 years) and three other American embassy staff. The 47-year-old was convicted by a jury in November 2017 for providing resources and support to the attackers but was acquitted of murder and attempted murder charges.
