The Libyan National Army (LNA) has ramped up its posturing over the last week, claiming to be days away from entering the capital. However, although the LNA continues to push along the Salahadeen, Khallat al-Furjan and Aziziyya axes, they have not made any significant or sustained territorial gains.

On 27 October, the LNA claimed to have launched airstrikes targeting one of the operations rooms utilized by Government of National Accord (GNA) Western Military Region commander Usama Juwaili, located south of Surman. The same day, LNA military “sources” claimed it had successfully destroyed a Misratan military convoy moving towards the LNA-controlled Jufra military base. It claimed that LNA air forces had stopped the convoy, though no other details have been released. The attack has not been confirmed by the anti-LNA coalition.

The anti-LNA forces have also been on the offensive last week, claiming an ambush near the Yarmouk military camp which reportedly killed 16 LNA fighters. On 27 October, the GNA Volcano of Rage Operation spokesman, Mohammed Qannounu, claimed that its forces had arrested eight LNA fighters attempting to infiltrate the Ain Zara axis and had taken control of large areas of al-Tuwaisha, south of the capital.
