Fighting in Benghazi reduced dramatically in the last week, with only intermittent clashes taking place between the Libyan National Army (LNA) and jihadists in the south-western enclave of Ganfuda and Guwarsha. Six soldiers belonging to 115 infantry brigade from Marj are reported to have been killed on 15 September in a mine explosion in Benghazi’s Gwarsha district. According to the LNA, mines – and snipers – have been the main reason for the slow progress in the area.

The LNA air force continues to target positions of the Derna Mujahedeen Shura Council (DMSC) in Derna. Airstrikes took place on 14 and 17 September against locations near the western gate of the city, and the southern Al Dahr Al Hamar area.

On 15 September, masked men assaulted Lahib oil field situated 150km south of Sirte, robbing personnel, property and the site vehicles. It is not known who the men were.
