On 10 August, a car bomb explosion in front of a shopping mall near the Commerce and Investment Bank in the Hawari area of Benghazi killed at least three UN staff members. The explosion occurred near the busy Hawari main hospital and targeted a UN convoy. According to the UN Envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, scores of civilians were injured by the explosion. LNA spokesperson, Ahmed al-Mismari, said ten people had been wounded, including children, and that two of those killed were UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) guards.

This car bomb attack came only hours after the LNA had announced its participation in the UN-backed truce for Eid al-Adha. No-one had claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of writing.
