An LNA offensive against the Derna Mujahedeen Shura Council (DMSC), which controls Derna, appears imminent. The Libyan National Army (LNA) continues to deploy large ground forces to Derna from Benghazi, Ajdabiya and other areas to prepare for the assault.
Last week, General Commander of the LNA Khalifa Haftar relieved Wanis Bukhamada from his post as commander of the LNA’s Joint Security Force Operation Room (JSFOR) in Benghazi and replaced him with LNA Chief of Staff and head of the LNA’s military governate in eastern Libya Abdurrazaq al-Nadhouri. JSFOR was established by the LNA as the centralised and integrated security management structure for the city. JSFOR, as well as other similar operation rooms in other cities all incorporate CID and GENIN. Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and General Investigations Agency (GENIN). Bukhamada retains his position as Commander of the LNA’s Saiqa Special Forces and has now been deployed to Derna to lead the ground assault there.
