The battle to control Libya’s energy sector is still ongoing and shows little sign of letting up. Although the Misratan led alliance forces that go by the name Libya Sunrise (Shuruq Libiyya) and which launched an advance against the Ras Lanuf and Es-Sider oil ports last week is still on the back foot, it has not given up the fight. Indeed, despite suffering heavy losses, the alliance which is part of Operation Libya Dawn launched an air raid close to the Es-Sider port this week.

Although the Misratan-led alliance that launched the assault against the oil ports of Ras Lanuf and Es-Sdier appears to have been significantly weakened by air assaults and the Libyan National Army, it is not finished yet. There are reports that the alliance is awaiting reinforcements and that a new assault is in the offing.
