Operation Shuruq appears to not be satisfied with the current stalemate in Ben Jawad. On the contrary, the latest attack on Sidra’s terminal shows that Operation Shuruq is keen to continue fighting with all means available until it achieves full control of the oil terminals, regardless of their status from a production-capacities point of view. In fact, Shuruq’s scorched earth policy might be purposely designed to deny the oil production capacity to their opponents. If this is in fact the case, more mayhem and destruction is to be expected.

Operation Shuruq’s actions show that they have adopted jihadi style tactics even though their core was non-jihadi Misratan fighters.
