The so-called Tripoli Wilaya of the Islamic State struck in the capital again this week, claiming responsibility for attacks against two foreign embassies. On 12 April gunmen in a car fired machine gun rounds at the South Korean Embassy, killing two local police officers and injuring another.

The following day the Moroccan Ambassador’s residence, which is located next to the Moroccan embassy in the Ben Ashour area, was attacked with an RPG missile. No one was hurt in the blast, although there was extensive damage to the property.
